Community Appearance Index Program Launch
Please join MLK365 and Keep Philadelphia Beautiful on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 9:30 am at the United Way of Southeastern PA as we introduce the Community Appearance Index, a new tool for Philadelphia Block Captains and other civically engaged residents.
The Community Appearance Index (or CAI) complements the Litter Index with several additional visual surveys that will help you chart your neighborhood’s progress over time.
The data obtained through the CAI is geared toward helping communities determine the types of community improvement programs needed to address current conditions, and achieve long-term sustainable results.
During this meeting Keep Philadelphia Beautiful will also introduce several new granting programs to help communities.
The event will take place on Friday, March 18, 2011 from 9:30 am to 11am at the United Way Building, located at 1709 Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia. All those who wish to attend must RSVP by Monday, March 14.

Global Citizen is non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting civic engagement, community volunteering, civic responsibility and sustained active citizenship among diverse groups, particularly young people.
Our issues of focus include poverty, homelessness, at-risk youth, education, public health, digital inclusion, energy and the environment. Global Citizen is a weaver of community webs, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds. Global Citizen was founded by Todd Bernstein, who helped Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Harris Wofford and Atlanta Congressman John Lewis create the National Martin Luther King Day of Service in 1994. Bernstein started the first local King Day of Service in Philadelphia in 1996.
MLK365 is a year-round program that promotes sustainable civic engagement and volunteer opportunities.
The goal of MLK365 is to ensure that Dr. King's legacy and principles are embraced throughout the entire year. The initiative emphasizes Dr. King's legacy of nonviolence, social justice, equality and excellence.
MLK365 serves as a year-round clearing house for continuing service opportunities, as well as supporting and designing volunteer programs for its partners.
